Prayer is our way of communicating with God, an opportunity to tell Him about our needs, but also to say thank you for everything that He’s done for us and means to us. But it’s more than simple one-way communication, it’s an exchange between us and God. As we become quiet, focus on Him and pray, we’re able to hear what He’s saying to us. Through prayer we become co-workers with God in fulfilling His plans on earth, praying for His will to be done. That’s why we begin our almost all of our gatherings and meetings with prayer – it must be the foundation of everything we do.
Intercession is prayer on behalf of others, where we ask God for the lives of our families, friends, communities and nations. All our congregations meet for weekly intercession, with the focus on praying for the church and surrounding community. If you’d like to join us, contact your congregation for the details of the intercession meeting.
In Mark 9:28-29, Jesus tells us clearly that some things simply won’t change without prayer. Occasionally our congregations or the church family as a whole will have a time of corporate prayer and fasting. Usually over a few days, we commit ourselves to praying together for something specific in our church or community. There are also global times of prayer where we join with other churches in intercession.
