Our volunteers are the heart of the church – without this awesome community of people it simply wouldn’t be possible to live out the vision God has given us… Each person who gives their time and energy to serving in church is literally the hands and feet that make it possible for us to see God’s kingdom grow.
If you’re a member of Shofar, we ask that you help out – there are literally hundreds of ways to get involved at your local congregation! From making coffee on a Sunday morning or singing in the worship team to teaching Children’s Church or packing out chairs – there’s a spot for you and we’d love your help! If you’re keen to serve, contact your local congregation and let your pastor know.
Our internship programme provides a one-year practical ministry experience. It’s hard work, but very rewarding! Our interns work alongside pastors and staff in all aspects of ministry, from running events to working with our NGOs, from youth and student work to prison ministry. They also receive leadership training and the opportunity to attend Bible School.
The main internship programme happens at our head office in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where you can choose between worship, youth, students and media. Contact us if you’d like to apply for internship. You do need to be aware that not everyone who applies is accepted, although we’ll do our best to accommodate you. You’ll also need to cover your costs for the year.
Some of our congregations also have interns – contact your pastor if you want to know more about serving locally.
